Ransomware is a growing threat as our economy digitizes. It has gradually become the number one problem for cybersecurity. The U.S. Treasury Department estimates that ransomware is bringing in $100 million a month in the United States. Colonial Pipeline is an example of a ransomware attach on the energy sector.

FIN7 is a hacking group. It began in credit card fraud and is now focusing on ransomware. When banks issued credit cards with chips, this made credit card fraud more difficult. FIN7 has begun recruiting tech talent to grow their business. FIN7 began offering a software Darkside as Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS).
